MD Drive 

Compact frequency converter with intelligent evaluation

The MD Drive from Mannesmann Demag combines a brushless DC motor (BLDC) with an integrated frequency converter in a particularly compact housing. This space-saving design allows direct mounting on tools, robot arms or in production cells.

Precise control and reliable monitoring

In addition to precise speed control, the MD Drive ensures a constant speed curve, which is essential for reproducible machining results in brushing, grinding and polishing processes. Furthermore, both current and speed data can be read out and evaluated in real time.

Intelligent evaluation of current and speed data

  • Current value: Since the motor current is proportional to the mechanical load and the contact force, the evaluation of the current value provides indirect, contactless monitoring of the tool load.
  • Speed: The evaluation of the speed also enables the detection of process deviations, e.g. due to changed load situations or mechanical problems.

The combination of both measured variables provides a comprehensive picture of the machining process with the following advantages:
